Our Board Certified Orthodontist, Dr. Josh Parker, utilizes a variety of hi-tech orthodontic treatment options including metal braces, clear braces, gold braces and Invisalign, to get fast and comfortable results for our patients.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that a child be seen by a pediatric dentist by the age of 1 or within 6 months after his or her first tooth comes in. This first visit is usually short and involves very little treatment. This visit gives your child an opportunity to meet Dr. Maturin in a non-threatening and friendly way. We want to make your child’s first visit and every visit after that enjoyable and positive!

At Ascension Children’s Dental in Gonzales, LA, we offer a variety of dental services for your child’s benefit including:
Routine Preventive Care – Teeth cleaning and polishing treatment is part of your child’s routine preventive care. We use special paste to polish teeth and remove any plaque buildup. Teeth cleaning or polishing, as well as fluoride treatment, is recommended every six months.
Restorative Care – Sometimes, despite proper hygiene, decay occurs. Baby teeth serve the important function of eating, speech and esthetics. These teeth not only help form developing jaws; they hold space for permanent teeth so that a normal bite occurs. It is important to restore baby teeth as soon as decay or injury is first detected with tooth colored fillings, crowns, etc.
Oral Sedation – At Ascension Children’s Dental we pride ourselves on our ability to make dentistry fun for children. While we will absolutely do our best to calm your little one’s nerves, sometimes we are unable to complete certain treatments due to a child’s overwhelming fear. When this happens, Dr. Maturin may recommend the use of Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen, commonly known as “laughing gas” or oral sedation.
General Anesthesia – Although rare, we do have some children that require general anesthesia to perform dental procedures. This method is administered by an anesthesiologist in a hospital or outpatient medical center to keep your child in a controlled state of unconsciousness. This allows your child to remain completely unaware of the procedure and prevents movement and discomfort. General anesthesia is typically only used for children in need of extensive dental treatment or who may have special needs, be uncooperative, anxious or afraid.
