FIRST APPOINTMENT
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that a child be seen by a pediatric dentist by the age of 1 or within 6 months after his or her first tooth comes in.
Your child’s first visit to our office is usually short and involves very little treatment. This visit gives your child an opportunity to meet Dr. Maturin in a non-threatening and friendly way. We want to make your child’s first visit and every visit after that enjoyable and positive.
During the first exam, Dr. Maturin will check all of your child’s existing teeth for decay, examine your child’s bite, and look for any potential problems with the gums, jaw and oral tissues. If indicated, Dr. Maturin or one of our friendly hygienists will clean any teeth and assess the need for fluoride.
We will also educate you about oral health care basics for children and answer any questions you may have.
You will be asked to complete medical and health history forms for your child during the first visit so please have this information on hand.
